Dr. Gail Ferguson’s academic career is characterised by her unwavering commitment to education and research. Since joining Edge Hill University Medical School in 2019, she has been at the forefront of medical education and currently serves as Head of the MBChB programme at the Institute of Medicine. In this role, Dr. Ferguson will not only manage the day-to-day operations of the MBChB Programme but also oversee the strategic development of the programme, ensuring a holistic and forward-looking approach to medical education. Dr Ferguson’s versatility was evident in the swift adaptation to online teaching during the challenging times of the COVID-19 outbreak, where she efficiently coordinated and managed all remote teaching sessions for the MBChB Programme whilst at Edge Hill University Medical School.
Before her roles at Edge Hill and The Institute of Medicine, Dr. Ferguson made significant contributions during her tenure as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology at the University of Central Lancashire. Here, she not only delivered impactful teaching across multiple levels but also played pivotal roles in curriculum development, demonstrating her leadership as a course leader for the MSc Cancer Biology and Therapy. Dr. Ferguson’s diverse experience includes roles as a bioscience lead, where she crafted essential teaching materials for PA students, showcasing her dedication to fostering accelerated learning.
With a rich background in scientific research and teaching, Dr. Gail Ferguson is not only a Member of the British Pharmacological Society but also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
