The IoM welcomes 15 students from Shanghai to their Healthcare Summer School

Throughout August, The Institute of Medicine welcomed 15 students from Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Services to their Healthcare Summer School, which involved a journey of learning, cultural exploration and camaraderie. This Summer School marked a significant chapter in the Institute of Medicine’s global outreach programme as it welcomed its first group of students for an immersive summer school experience.
Professor George E Holmes DL DSc, President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton, welcomed the students and said the University was committed to helping to develop careers in the health sector.

MSC Global Healthcare Management students enjoy leadership and networking activities at Anderton Centre

The University of Bolton’s MSC Global Healthcare Management enjoyed the great outdoors in a series of leadership and networking activities at the Anderton Centre.
The centre’s focus on peer learning and fun-filled experiences around leadership and management skills left a lasting impact on the students.
The visit to the Anderton Centre in Chorley, which is part of the University of Bolton Group, was a celebration of the students’ learning and achievements. It is also aimed at enhancing their learning journey for the MBA7058 L&M module.
Learning outcomes three and four of the module required the students to systematically examine and reflect on their leadership disposition, skills, and behaviours, as well as identify personal and professional leadership goals and devise strategies for their attainment.

The Institute of Medicine at The University of Bolton hosted a highly successful workshop on ‘Managing Common ENT Problems in Primary Care and Otoscopy’.
The sessions, held on 30 June, were aimed at General Practitioners (GPs), GP Trainees, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), and paramedics.
It provided a comprehensive platform for healthcare professionals to enhance their skills in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions.
With an increasing demand for specialised care in primary care settings, the workshop aimed to equip participants with the tools and knowledge to effectively manage common ENT problems.
Led by a team of esteemed ENT specialists and experienced instructors, the sessions covered practical approaches to diagnosing and treating common ENT conditions, including sinusitis, ear infections and tonsillitis.

A new standard in radiology education has been set by the Radiology Academy, Institute of Medicine at The University of Bolton.
It successfully ran a virtual preparatory course for the Fellow of the College of Radiologists (FRCR) Part 2B exam in radiology.
The course, delivered entirely online to make it accessible to delegates from all over the world, was designed to equip candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to pass the challenging final examination held by the Royal College of Radiologists in the UK.

The Institute of Medicine at the University of Bolton held a comprehensive Ear, Nose, Throat (ENT) course for junior doctors.
The course was led by experienced faculty of ENT specialists, who provided engaging and informative lectures, case-based discussions and hands-on training sessions.
It was designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of junior doctors in the diagnosis and management of common ENT conditions.
It covered a range of topics, including the anatomy and physiology of the ear, nose, and throat, common ENT conditions and identifying more complex conditions.
In addition to theoretical knowledge, the course offered practical experience in performing ENT examinations and procedures, with hands-on training sessions, where junior doctors were able to practise techniques such as nasal endoscopy, otoscopy and flexible laryngoscopy.
